An invitation: The former Veterans of Wigan RUFC are once again holding their annual charity bike ride on Saturday the 6th of June. This is in memory of our dear departed team member and friend of many Gerry Cooper who died after a brave fight against cancer and was treated at Christies.
The Route: Along the towpaths, pathways and byways from Bescar (near Southport) to Sams Bar Scholes stopping off at a number of hostelries and finishing off with buffet & music in Sams Bar
Distance – about 16 miles (but at least most of it is flat, very scenic and off road)
Time: Heaton Bridge: Meet from 11am for chip barms with Noon leave - aiming for Sams Bar at 6pm
Cost: £10 donation/sponsorship per rider – if over and above this you want to raise individual sponsorship you are free to do so and a sponsor form is available, but you are under no obligation to do so – Malc will collect any sponsor money up to two weeks after the ride so you do NOT need to bring it on the day - all we want off each rider on the day is a.......... ‘tenner for Christies’
Event: The emphasis is on this being a Fun event – the ride is always a CRACKER and is open to everyone The more the merrier – bring a friend/partner/lover or all 3!
We all know someone who has been treated at Christies, so come on, let’s repay our gratitude
This ride has been registered with Christies www.christies.org Reg Charity 1049751
E-mail Malc on malcolm@nmsltd.co.uk if you require sponsor form or a blue Christies T shirt to wear on the day (£2 only)
For the less ‘athletic’, bike transportation to the starting point at Heaton Bridge will be available on the morning from the Brocket at 10am but you must sort your own lift out to the starting point.
So dust your bike down & see you on Saturday 6th of June from 11am onwards at Heaton Bridge for a great day!
